Shenango Valley Online Policy
The following are ACCEPTABLE USES of Shenango Valley Online:
- Use for purposes in support of individual and business education, research and
entertainment.
The following are UNACCEPTABLE USES of Shenango Valley Online:
- Use of Shenango Valley Online for illegal purposes or for unauthorized access to
systems, software or data.
- Activities that interfere with the ability of others to effectively use Shenango
Valley Online or facilities connected to Shenango Valley Online.
- Distribution of unsolicited marketing, advertising, or personnel recruiting
materials via e-mail.
General Conditions of Use:
You must be at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18 years of age,
then a parent or legal guardian must agree to this service. The parent or guardian assumes
all responsibility for the account. You are required to have a valid authorized account
under your real name, containing true and valid information.
All accounts are strictly limited to one login at a time and may not be
shared among friends or neighbors. Accounts are setup for occasional usage and are not to
be used as dedicated service. When you are not using the service, you need to disconnect
so that others may use the service. Dedicated dial-up services are available for an
additional charge. Individuals discovered to be abusing this restriction will face a
temporary suspension of services or total termination of their account.
All personal and not-for-profit accounts are afforded 1 mailbox and 10MB
of disk storage on our server system for posting of a personal website. Business accounts
are afforded 30MB of storage and optional additional mailbox accounts. Visit our

for setup instructions. Personal websites are limited to personal usage only,
posting of commercial websites (including not-for-profit organizations) is prohibited
without prior written permission. No websites may contain any obscene or offensive
materials. Shenango Valley Online personnel will review all personal websites for content
and will restrict access to any account that violates these terms and agreements.
Any use that disrupts the normal use of the system for other customers
is considered to be an abuse of the system and is grounds for administrative intervention.
Some examples of system abuse include spawning excessive processes, consuming excessive
amounts of memory or CPU for long periods of time, and staying attached to modems while
not really "active" on the line.
You are responsible for safeguarding your account and password. Shenango
Valley Online can be reached from any site in the world, thus password security is of
crucial importance.
ANY activity of this sort shall be grounds for the immediate termination
of your account with Shenango Valley Online, as well as the full disclosure of any and
all information relating to this matter to the proper law enforcement authorities for
criminal prosecution. The use of computer and Internet network services are subject to
federal and state regulations, with which you are expected to be familiar. These local
guidelines, which include federal and state regulations, of computer and international
network usage are subject to revision. You as the user are expected to be familiar with
any modifications and/or revisions in the laws and regulations.
Use of any information obtained via this service is at your own risk.
Shenango Valley Online specifically denies any responsibility for the accuracy or
quality of information obtained through our services. Shenango Valley Online does not
warrant that its service will meet any specific requirement you have, or that it will be
error-free or uninterrupted. Shenango Valley Online shall not be liable for any indirect,
incidental, or consequential damages (including lost data, information, or profits)
sustained or incurred in connection with the use, operation, or inability to use the
service, whether caused by our own negligence, or by your own errors or omissions.
Shenango Valley Online makes no warranties, expressed or implied, as to the
merchantability of the service or its fitness for a particular use or purpose.
You agree to read and abide by the definitive terms and conditions of
service (which may be modified at any time without notice), published on the World-Wide
Web at http://www.svol.net/policy.php. If you do not agree with the definitive terms and
conditions, log off and contact us. These terms and conditions supersede all
previous representations, understandings, or agreements, and shall prevail notwithstanding
any variance with terms and conditions of any order submitted.
We are not responsible for long distance charges incured
while dialing our servers. Please make sure you are making a local call before you
dial.
Conditions of Internet Access:
Traffic exiting Shenango Valley Online to SprintNet is governed by the policies
of SprintNet. Violations of this policy will result in the expulsion of the member or
organization from Shenango Valley Online, termination of Shenango Valley Online
services, and forfeiture of all fees paid to date.
E-mail, Data Transfer and Storage Policy
You may use your account only for lawful purposes. Transmission of any
material in violation of federal, state or local regulations is prohibited. This
includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material, threatening or obscene material, or
material protected by trade secret.
You may not engage in unauthorized duplication, alteration, or
destruction of data, programs, or software on any local or remote system. You agree to
indemnify and hold Shenango Valley Online harmless from any claims resulting from
your use of the service which damage either you or another party.
You may not use computer resources to engage in abuse of local or other
network users. This includes the transmission of obscene messages and the like. You may
not use computer nor network facilities to attempt to breach security on any local or
foreign hosts. Any attempt to enter another computer by means of a back-door program
such as "NetBus" will cause your account to be immediately terminated.
Members of Shenango Valley Online are expressly prohibited from uploading or
posting on Shenango Valley Online or using the facilities of Shenango Valley Online to
upload or post any unlawful, libelous, obscene, profane or sexually explicit information
of any kind, or any information which is offensive to the standards of the Mercer County,
Pennsylvania, community, or any information which would give rise to civil or criminal
liability or which would violate any local, state, national or international law. Members
of Shenango Valley Online a e expressly prohibited from uploading or posting any
information on Shenango Valley Online or using the facilities of Shenango Valley Online
to upload or post information which is protected by copyright without the express
authorization of the copyright owner.
There is no explicit limit on the number of e-mail messages and data files that
may be sent or received on Shenango Valley Online. However, Shenango Valley Online
reserves the right to implement and enforce mail, data transfer and/or storage
restrictions if any member's data use or storage becomes so large that it adversely
affects the performance of Shenango Valley Online or the ability of other members to the
use the system.
Information stored in a member's electronic mailbox is subject to deletion after
twenty (20) days have passed since the transfer, creation or last modification of that
information, whichever is the most recent.
The sending of unsolicited marketing, advertising, or personnel recruiting
materials via e-mail through Shenango Valley Online's system and to other Shenango Valley
Online members is strictly prohibited. This practice is illegal under federal law and
will result in termination of your account and possible criminal prosecution.
All materials which are uploaded and posted to Shenango Valley Online are
subject to review by Shenango Valley Online. Shenango Valley Online reserves the right
to refuse to include in any library of files available for download or any web site or ftp
site any materials which Shenango Valley Online believes violates Shenango Valley
Online's Acceptable Use Policy.
Shenango Valley Online supports shareware and encourages members who download
shareware to remit the requested shareware payment if the member uses the shareware
program beyond the trial period.
Our Rights
To provide the best available service to all members, any member will be
automatically logged-off Shenango Valley Online if there is a period of inactivity of 30
minutes.
Shenango Valley Online reserves the right to shut down the system or portions
of the system to service, repair or maintain the system. Every effort will be made to
notify members in advance of an anticipated shut-down of the system.
Shenango Valley Online reserves the right to terminate the service of any
member for violation of any of Shenango Valley Online's policies, or for any other
reason.
Billing Policies
Charges for new accounts are prorated. Charges for terminating accounts
are not prorated. The account holder acknowledges responsibility for the account until
payment in full is made. If your account is suspended for non-payment, there is a $10 fee
for re-activation. Termination of an account due to lack of payment does not remove
your obligation under this agreement to pay all fees incurred up to the date that the
account is canceled, including any collection fees incurred by Shenango Valley Online.
There is a $25 charge for returned checks.
Shenango Valley Online may cancel your account at any time, for any
reason, including, but not limited to, violation of any of the terms set forth herein, or
in Shenango Valley Online's definitive statement of terms and conditions referenced
below.
You agree to pay for this account according to Shenango Valley Online's
email billing policies. The Shenango Valley Online accounting cycle begins on your anniversary date and
continues for 30, 90 or 365 days depending on your term of service. You will be rebilled on the first day
of your next term of service, at which point your bill will be due. If we do not recieve your payment, your account may be
terminated. Termination of your account does not remove your esponsibility under this agreement to
pay all fees incurred up to the date of termination including, but not limited to,
collection and attorneys' fees incurred by Shenango Valley Online. Non use of your access
account does not relieve you of your obligation to pay for your account service.
Important Notice: Payments are non-refundable. Memberships automatically renew
at the beginning of each billing period. Cancellations must be made by either calling
724-962-6950 or e-mailing billing@svol.net.Shenango Valley Online may cancel your account at
any time, for any reason.
Confidentiality of Communications
Pursuant to the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986, 18 U.S.C. Section
2510 et seq., notice is hereby given that there are no facilities provided by this system
for sending or receiving private or confidential electronic communications. All messages
shall be deemed to be readily accessible to the general public.
Limitation of Liability and Disclaimer of Warranties
Shenango Valley Online does not warrant or guarantee that the services or
information provided by Shenango Valley Online will meet any member's requirements or
expectations, or that the service provided by Shenango Valley Online will be
uninterrupted or error-free.
Shenango Valley Online SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY ACTUAL, DIRECT, INDIRECT,
INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES THAT RESULT OR MAY RESULT FROM THE USE OF
Shenango Valley Online, OR THAT RESULT OR MAY RESULT FROM MISTAKES, OMISSIONS,
NEGLIGENCE, DEFECTS, DELAYS, DELETION OR CORRUPTION OF DATA, ERRORS IN INFORMATION, OR
INTERRUPTION OR DELAY OF SERVICE. Some states do not allow the limitation or exclusion of
liability for incidental or consequential damages, and the above limitation may not apply
to you.
BY USING Shenango Valley Online, EACH MEMBER EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES
THAT USE OF Shenango Valley Online IS AT THE MEMBER'S SOLE RISK. Shenango Valley Online
IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF ANY KIND,
INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Some states do not allow the limitation or exclusion of implied
warranties, and the above limitation may not apply to you.
