Whenever you configure an e-mail or news client they will ask you for the following information...

Local Outgoing Mail Server [SMTP]: smtp.gmail.com

Server Requires Authentication needs to be checked.
This server requires a SSL connection needs to be checked
SMTP Port Number: 465

Incoming Mail Server [POP3]: pop.gmail.com
This server requires a SSL connection needs to be checked
POP3 Port: 995
